カメラで撮影した風景や植物の写真を元に油彩を描いている。

ピントをぼかすことで対象を曖昧にして抽象性（幅を持たせた含み）を与え、
また、他の要素を加えると対象が別の何かに見えてくるかもしれない。

どこに焦点を当て、何を見るか、何を感じるかは絵画だけでなく全ての物事に共通していることだろう。視覚やイメージの曖昧さ、人が持っている固定観念によって、ものの見え方が変わってくるのではないだろうか。

曖昧な風景から何が見えてくるのか、焦点を合わせずに見てもらいたい。

Choun Minok creates oil paintings from photographs of landscapes and plants. The paintings are deliberately out of focus, which gives them an abstract quality; and when other elements are introduced into the paintings, they may appear to be something other than what they are. Where does the focus lie? What is seen? What can be felt?

These are questions that can be asked not only of paintings but of all things. What one sees is affected by the ambiguities of one’s visual perception and of the perceived image, as well as one’s preconceptions. Minok’s paintings encourage you to see things out of focus and to explore that which can be discovered from the uncertain image.
